Mounted Archery

The contest involves shooting a moving target while mounted upon on a galloping horse. The target is a round ball of straw, covered in white canvas and 2 foot in diameter. On the ball is one 6 inch black "X". The ball is suspended between two 20 foot poles and hangs from a rope 10 foot long. Just before each run a page shall push the target with a pole, setting it to swinging and spinning. Twenty feet behind the poles holding the target is a wall of hay bales to act as a backdrop for misses.  Each archer will have 4 shots per match. The archer with the highest score at the end of  the match is declared winner; ties must be broken by another round.

Rules:
   • Rider must shoot while mounted on a horse and at a gallop, controlling their mount with legs only.
   • All shots must be taken before crossing a line set on the ground, 50 feet from the target.
   • At least two participants per match.  You may shoot against others of your own house in matches of 4 or more only.
