Merry Christmas
to all my friends,
old and new, near and far.

"And the angel
said unto them,
Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy,
which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior,
which is Christ the Lord."

I believe in Santa Claus
I believe in Santa Claus
I believe there's always hope when all seems lost
I believe in Santa Claus
I believe in Santa Claus, I'll tell you
why I do
Cause I believe that dreams and plans and wishes can come true
I believe in miracles, I believe in magic too
I believe in Santa Claus and I believe in you.
I believe in family in country and in smiles
I believe in turning negatives to positives in life
I believe in lookin' farther up the further down we get
I believe when someone hurts us we should forgive and forget.
I believe in Santa Claus
I believe in Santa Claus
I believe love should prevail at any cost
I believe in Santa Claus
I believe in saying what you mean and meaning
what you say
I believe a better attitude can make a better way
I believe in viewing life as a journey that we're on
And lookin' at our troubles as another stepping stone
And I believe that everything in life is
what it's meant to be
I believe there is a God somewhere although He's hard to see
I believe I am so therefore I should do all that I can
To be a better piece in the puzzle of God's plan
I believe in Santa Claus
I believe in Santa Claus
I believe there's always hope when all seems lost
I believe in Santa Claus

We take pleasure in answering thus prominently the communication below, expressing at the same time our great gratification that its faithful author is numbered among the friends of The Sun: Dear Editor--- I am 8 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says, "If you see it in The Sun, it's so." Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa Claus? Virginia O'Hanlon Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours, man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The external light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished. Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies. You might get your papa to have men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if you did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world. You tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest mean, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived could tear apart. Only faith, poetry, love romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding. No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives and lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay 10 times 10,000 years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

IF CHRISTMAS MEANS
SHARING,
then let us share together our hope for tomorrow...
IF CHRISTMAS MEANS GIVING,
then let us give one another strength, encouragement, and faith...
IF CHRISTMAS MEANS LOVE,
then let us love one another with the hearts of children...
... In the Spirit of Peace.

The Christmas Wish
I dont know if you believe
in Christmas,
Or if you have presents, underneath the Christmas Tree.
But if you believe in love,
That will be more than enough.
For you to come and celebrate with me.
For I have held the precious
gift that love brings,
Even though I never saw a Christmas
star.
I know there is a
light
I have felt it burn
inside,
And I have seen it shining
from afar.
Christmas is a time to come
together,
A time to put all differences
aside.
And I reach out my
hand,
To the family of
man
To share the joy I feel at
Christmas time.
For the truth that binds us
all together,
I would like to say a simple prayer,
That at this special time,
You will have true peace of mind
And love to last throughout the coming year.
And if you believe in love
That will be more than enough
For peace to last throughout the coming year.
And peace on earth will last
throughout the year.
~ D A Wheetman ~
T'was
the night before Christmas, and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse...
"God bless us, Everyone!"
Then
the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!
"Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store."
"Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit
more!"
Heap
on more wood!-- the wind is chill;
But let it whistle as it will,
We'll keep our Christmas merry still.
-Sir Walter Scott

Snoopy's Christmas
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum, Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
The news had come out in
the First World War
The bloody Red Baron was flying once more
The Allied command ignored all of its men
And called on Snoopy to do it again.
Was the night before
Christmas,40 below
When Snoopy went up in search of his foe
He spied the Red Baron, fiercely they fought
With ice on his wings Snoopy knew he was caught.
Christmas bells those
Christmas bells
Ring out from the land
Asking peace of all the world
And good will to man
The Baron had Snoopy dead
in his sights
He reached for the trigger to pull it up tight
Why he didn't shoot, well, we'll never know
Or was it the bells from the village below.
Christmas bells those
Christmas bells
Ringing through the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to man
The Baron made Snoopy fly
to the Rhine
And forced him to land behind the enemy lines
Snoopy was certain that this was the end
When the Baron cried out, "Merry Christmas, my friend"
The Baron then offered a
holiday toast
And Snoopy, our hero, saluted his host
And then with a roar they were both on their way
Each knowing they'd meet on some other day.
Christmas bells those
Christmas bells
Ringing through the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to man
Two things upon this
changing earth,
Will neither change or end.
The splendor of Christ's humble birth,
The love of Friend for Friend.

A light has shown upon us this
day,
For the Lord our Savior is born for God.
A light has shown upon us this day
For the Lord our Savior is born for us.
And we shall call Him Wonder
Counsellor,
Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

THE WORK OF CHRISTMAS
BEGINS
~ Howard Thurman ~
When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and the princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flocks,
The work of Christmas begins:
to find the lost
to heal the broken
to feed the hungry
to release the prisoner
to rebuild the nations
to bring peace among the people
to make music in the heart.
Auld Lang Syne
Should
auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to min'?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days o' lang syne?
We twa
hae rin about the braes,
And
pu'd the gowans fine;
But
we've wandered monie a weary fit
Sin'
auld lang syne.
And
here's a hand, my trusty fiere,
And gie's a hand o' thine;
And we'll take a right guid willie-waught
For auld lang syne.
For
auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne.
~ Robert Burns ~
